Heat + The 3% Conference
In 2017, Heat was inspired by The 3% Conference to create a space for conversation about inclusion in the advertising industry. As two-year sponsors of the movement, we needed to walk the walk - so we created our own event, bringing a taste of the East Coast conference into our San Francisco home. Budding and established creatives and industry folk were invited for an evening of mingling and community building, and to a panel discussion about the movement's 2017 theme, "Beyond Gender." We hosted the event in our office, hoping to remind local creatives that our doors are always open.
Responsibilities: Creative direction, Marketing strategy, Event planning
THE EVENT
After warming up with happy hour and photobooth shenanigans, we asked guests to participate in a panel discussion with industry experts who shared their perspectives on inclusion in the workplace, industry challenges and solutions, and the meaning of "Beyond Gender." Panelists included:
- Joyce Chen, Director of Integrated Production, HEAT
- Julie Scelzo, VP Executive Creative Director, Pandora
- Leslie Barrett, Managing Partner, Goodby Silverstein & Partners
- Justin Adu, Associate Creative Director, Carol H. Williams Advertising + Director of Social Media, ADCOLOR
- Abby Maldonado, HR Business Partner, Pinterest
THE MARKETING
We briefed our in-house creatives and challenged them to create a logo and visual style for our event. The winning design, a universal human heart that bleeds blue, pink, and in-between, was used across marketing efforts and screenprinted onto t-shirts and totes for guests by local business San Franpsycho.
